Le Lutin

October 16, 2010

Sale rack at Le Lutin featuring clothes by Jen Kao, Ohne Titel, and Preen.

Marissa and I made a trip over to the boutique I mentioned a few posts ago, Le Lutin. Located on Jinxian Lu, a street filled with every kind of fake garment and bag from Alexander Wang Rocco bags to Alexander McQueen blazers, Le Lutin is a little enclave of (real) clothes by designers like Rad by Rad Hourani, Eddie Borgo, Helmut Lang, Jen Kao, Jenni Kayne, Ohne Titel, and Preen, among others. While we were browsing the 70% off racks, which were unfortunately filled almost exclusively with tiny clothes, the shopgirl, Yoyo, struck up a conversation with us and we all immediately bonded over clothes, fashion blogs, and Alexa Chung. I am looking forward to getting lunch with Yoyo and Marissa next week! And, possibly, saving up to buy one of the Eddie Borgo pieces…

I asked Yoyo about the buying practices at the shop and she said that the owner is a buyer (for where, I don’t know) and that Le Lutin is one of the only boutiques in Shanghai/China that carries most of these designers. In March, the boutique will move to the French Concession, where it will start carrying men’s clothes by Richard Chai and others. In its new space, Le Lutin will also include a small cafe/coffee shop.

This hot pink dress by Preen killed me, I remember this on the runway!

I also loved this part-suede gray vest by Jen Kao, TO DIE FOR, especially at 70% off!

I am absolutely OBSESSED with this Eddie Borgo jewelry. The large piece in the center is a choker necklace and the other two are bracelets. Classic!

Knit Ohne Titel dress – the detail and textures on the dress are stunning in person but I would be so afraid to wear it out lest it get destroyed.
